THIS YEAR’S FORUM: ENORMOUS CHANGES AND NEW AREAS OF FOCUS
As more people in the US and around the world gain access to health services, quality improvers continue to focus on developing new and better ways to deliver patient care and to coordinate these efforts with the health needs of communities. Quality improvement initiatives now extend across the continuum of care, from the hospital to the home, and feature new models that factor in behavioral health as well as physical health and the role that social determinants play throughout the life cycle. This is part of a broadening mission of achieving greater health equity and improving the health of populations consistent with a payment system that is shifting from rewarding volume to one focused on value.
Against this backdrop, the 2018 IHI National Forum on Quality Improvement in Health Care provides the country’s best platform to hear about successes and challenges and to harness evidence-based solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing health and health care today.
