Market Research and Market Discovery for Local Food Farmers
If you’re starting a local food farm, or interested in improving your customer base for your local food products, consider joining University of Illinois Extension for a new workshop from 6-8pm on Feb 16th in Sycamore: Market Research and Market Discovery for Local Food Farmers.
Learning to be an excellent grower of high-quality products is only half the battle for local food farmers. In order to be successful, these farmers also have to drum up customers who want to buy what they are selling at a sustainable price. Understanding the local marketplace is essential, but many people don’t know how to go about doing the necessary market research.
After this workshop, local food farmers will be able to:
- Locate publicly-available market research data on their product category, as well as to do their own first-hand market research and discovery
- Match their products with appropriate segments of consumers, retailers, or restaurants
- Consider all the factors that go into sustainable pricing of niche food products
The Program will be held from 6:00-8:00pm at 1350 W. Prairie Dr in Sycamore, IL (Farm Bureau Building) and the fee is $10.
